We're pleased to offer the following services at Custer McDermott Animal Hospital
We operate primarily by appointment to allow ample time for all patients and scheduled surgical procedures. Emergency cases will always receive top priority. We honor our scheduled appointments, but we will work you in if you feel your pet needs to be seen that day. We do value your time and we will make a sincere attempt to see each client on time.
For your convenience, drop-off appointments are available. A drop off means you can bring your pet at a time that works best for you and leave him/her with us for a couple of hours. Usually we will ask you to drop off sometime in the morning so our doctors can examine the patient in between appointments or at a time purposely reserved for admitted patients. We ask that you leave us a phone number we can reach you at so a veterinarian or technician can call you to ask any questions, or discuss diagnostic and treatment options.
For the safety of all animals in our care, we require that certain vaccinations be up to date. Even though we make every effort to make our patients feel comfortable during visits, they may be a little uneasy about new people, new surroundings and other pets. This is one of the reasons we ask you to restrain your pet. We recommend that animals be placed on a leash or in pet carriers before entering the waiting room.
We have a veterinarian and personnel on duty 6 days a week who are trained and equipped to handle any urgent care your pet has. Usually an emergency team consists of at least one veterinarian and several technicians working together to save a pet's life. Emergencies can be things such as snail bait poisoning, hit by car, and chocolate ingestion. If you ever feel that your pet needs emergency treatment do not hesitate to call or come in immediately. If possible it is best to call before coming in so that a team member can advise you on your particular emergency.
We are also available for urgent care when the condition is not life-threatening. If you feel your pet needs to be seen before you are able to get an appointment, our veterinarians will work to "squeeze" you in between scheduled appointments. When you arrive, our receptionists will be able to give you an estimate on how long you may have to wait in order to be seen.
Because a large number of veterinarians practice at Custer McDermott Animal Hospital, we can care for many types of pets:
